The Story of My Year was a collection I simply had to create. Since December, Story of the Year has been the soundtrack to literally my life. Countless hours creating. Playing through every idea, every polish mix, every late night, and every tear shed while chasing this dream. 

This collection is my way of saying thank you to a band that unknowingly helped bring Checkered Finish to life.

⚡️🌊And the Hero will Drown - a cobalt blue with a blue shimmer, turquoise/teal/gold holo flakies and pink reflective glitters. To resemble the colors of the ocean as the song tells the story of someone being pulled under by their own struggles. ⚡️*REFLECTIVE 

🔥Gasoline - a fiery orange base with golden orange aurora shimmer, red, orange, yellow shreds and orange/pink/gold iridescent flakies. To resemble fire for the lyrics "burn it down, cover it all in gasoline" I whipped this up 2 nights before seeing SOTY for a free pop-up show in Chicago (we actually ended up meeting them and the singer loved my nails)

⚡️❤️Until the Day I Die - A crimson/blood red with black shreds, orange to red Aurora shimmer and gold reflective Glitters. To mimic the lyric "Should I bite my tongue? Until blood soaks my shirt" the black shreds being a shirt, and the red base being blood ⚡️*REFLECTIVE 

🏛Sidewalks  SLIGHTLY MATTE base. A concrete/light gray base with a strong silver shimmer, green ucc flakies and blue iridescent flakies

From the lyrics - "From the weeds that grow" "18 blue, 21 gray" and of course, a matte gray to resemble sidewalks made out of concrete!

🗯Razorblades - a clear based topper with silver platinum shreds to mimic shredded razorblades. The song really doesn't sing about razorblades per se, more so on cutting ties in any toxic friendship. I wanted to turn something sharp and destructive into something beautiful.

📣Wake up the Voiceless -

A deep plum purple base with a strong gold aurora shimmer and blue/purple holo flakies. Inspired by finding your power, and speaking out against anyone trying to control you. It is an "us versus the world" anthem.
